Latest on the Ukraine Crisis
Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, The escalating unrest in Ukraine is a great concern for our operations in the former Soviet Union. The latest report from Vadim, our onsite leader, shares that the current situation has pushed many Jewish families to make aliyah, or at least seriously consider it: “We have noticed an increased number of Jewish families turning to us for help. In previous months, our regular statistic was helping 3-5 families monthly. However, during March we have provided support to over 60 Jewish families (more than 140 persons)." "Praise the Lord, we have maintained...

She Saw Me in a Dream!
'If this is what you really want me to be doing with my life, Father, please confirm it in a very clear way on this trip,’ I prayed. Was I really supposed to be in Kiev, Ukraine, finding Jewish families to tell them of God’s will for them to return to Israel? Christians are supposed to do that, but was I specifically called to this kind of work? There are plenty of other things I could do to serve the Father. I wanted to be sure this was His calling so I prayed that simple prayer on the first day of the Engage Ukraine 2013 trip. Two days later He answered that prayer in a way I couldn’t have...

Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Urges Jews to Flee Kiev
The chief rabbi’s urgent advice, which was reported recently by the Times of Israel , came in response to an anti-Semitic attack on two Jewish students in Kiev. Whatever your political persuasion, the recent protests and deployment of Russian troops into Ukraine have ominous overtones. Political unrest preoccupies authorities and generally leaves minorities, like the Jewish people in Ukraine, more vulnerable to attack. A friend of mine who lives in Kiev told me: “We had everything going on: peaceful demonstrations, riots, clashes, looting, robbing, shooting, killing, night watches by whole...

Ukraine in Turmoil
We saw a new page in Ukraine’s history open on 30 November 2013. That day special police units forcibly broke up a demonstration in Kiev by political activists, although most of the protesters were, in fact, high school students. Now, just a short time later, we realize that we live in a different Ukraine. The most radical change came in the last two weeks of January with peaceful protests turning into riots in the center of Kiev, and regional administrative offices stormed in western and central Ukraine. In the midst of the protests against the current authorities, some radical and...

'Flee From the Land of the North'
Ukraine is where Ebenezer International’s operational ministry began. In his hotel room in Odessa on 20 December 1991, as he prepared for Ebenezer’s first sailing to Haifa, Gustav Scheller, the ministry’s founder, spoke prophetically about seeing ‘the vision come to pass’. Ebenezer’s birth had taken place at the beginning of 1991, during the first Gulf War, when the Lord spoke to a group of intercessors in Jerusalem saying that now was the time to help the Jewish people return from the ‘land of the north’, which includes Ukraine. The strategic importance of Ukraine cannot be under-estimated,...

Engage—Next Generation in Action; Touching Hearts in Ukraine
Slava Bogu! We certainly do "give glory to God" for the ten days we spent in Ukraine on our Enage trip this past August! Fifteen of us travelled around Kiev visiting Jewish families. It was intense and challenging, but the Lord guided us and kept us safe. We visited 70 Jewish families and felt honored to step into their homes. We shared the Scriptures and told them that God had not forgotten them! "I will say to the north, 'Give them up.'" (Isaiah 43:6) We told them about the biblical prophecies and explained why, as Christians, we wanted to encourage them to make aliyah. With simple words we...
