History of Operation Exodus USA

International History

History of OE:  God showed our founder, Gustav Scheller, that it was His plan and purpose to bring the Jewish people back to Israel and that Gustav would be involved in doing so.

Nine years later, during an international prayer conference in Jerusalem, the Lord made it clear that the time had arrived. In response, Gustav opened the first Ebenezer Emergency Fund International office in Bournemouth, England, in 1991. Later that year, with funds donated from supporters, Ebenezer Emergency Fund International financed Jewish Agency flights from Budapest, Hungary, bringing 720 Russian Jews to Israel.

Since that time, Ebenezer Emergency Fund International (now known as Ebenezer Operation Exodus International) has assisted over 200,000 immigrants to return by plane and by ship and begun work in over 55 nations. We also started our humanitarian aid program in 1994, donating tons of aid throughout the former Soviet Union (fSU).

USA History

Since the 1990s, Operation Exodus USA (OEUSA) has had representatives in the USA promoting God’s holy work of Aliyah by sharing at churches and raising funds to support Ebenezer International’s Aliyah work from the nations. In 2004, OEUSA established its National Office in Buffalo, New York, and in 2006, we assisted our first immigrant in returning from the USA to Israel. Our work continues to expand.

Today, thousands of American Jewish people are making Aliyah, with numbers growing exponentially, particularly after the horrific terrorist attack on innocent men, women, and children on October 7, 2023. Our Jewish friends have shown remarkable solidarity with Israel, demonstrating tremendous courage and resilience as they make Aliyah amid the shadow of war. The unprecedented rise of anti-Semitism and instability in America are powerful factors driving this movement. To God be the glory!

We provide prayer, encouragement, and assistance to all those whom the LORD sends to us for support with their Aliyah journey. We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers serving across the USA, with a strong presence along the East Coast, the New York region, the Great Lakes region, and within our expanding National Office in Buffalo, NY.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem.
May all who love this city prosper.
O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls
    and prosperity in your palaces.
For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
    “May you have peace.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem. Psalm 122:6-9 NLT
